100 Reasons to be Committed in the 19th Century - Vol 2
A reference list of strange and varied reasons people were committed to insane asylums during the nineteenth century and into the late 1920s. Entries cover medical, social, legal, and personal circumstances, including attempts to contain disease, conceal embarrassing behavior, secure an inheritance, end a marriage, or hide an accusation. Designed for historical and pulp roleplaying campaigns, the list supports settings where changing ideas about social planning, poverty, sickness, and mental illness shape everyday life. Reasons marked with an asterisk apply only to women.
