100 Superstitions and Pieces of Folklore
A collection of 100 superstitions and pieces of folklore drawn from signs, customs, and beliefs surrounding everyday life. Entries are divided into five categories: plants and animals; food and drink; marriage, birth, and family; luck and supernatural forces; and death, dreams, and other matters. The collection ranges from pleasant protective customs, such as placing pennyroyal beneath a doorway rug to keep liars out, to darker omens involving birds, dreams, and death.
