2016 · Expansion for Base-game
Orléans: Trade & Intrigue
Adds a suite of new components that expand scoring options and player interaction. Players gain access to new place tiles and four modular systems: Orders cards that require collecting specific goods and delivering them to designated cities for points; a fresh pool of hourglass event tiles with a semi-random selection each game; an alternative Beneficial Deeds board offering new rewards for sending followers away; and an Intrigue module that introduces actions to hinder, attack, or steal from opponents. Modules can be used separately or together to vary strategy, emphasis on trade, and player conflict.

Rules questions
Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.
When and how do I fulfill an Order? Do I still get to take another action afterward?
An Order is fulfilled immediately when your Merchant is in the required town after one of your actions: pay the depicted goods, take the Order card, remove the goods from play, and immediately flip a replacement (page 2). Important: fulfilling an Order ends your turn — it is your last action that round (page 2).
How do the new Hour Glass tiles stack and when do their events trigger?
Use the 34 new Hour Glass tiles (do not use the base-game ones); assemble an 18-tile stack by placing a Silentium tile, then 4 D, 4 C, 4 B, 4 A tiles, and the second Silentium on top (page 2). In phase 1 you reveal the top tile as usual; most events resolve in phase 6, though tiles with a coin symbol can occur at different points or affect the whole round (page 2).
What happens if an Event says I must pay coins but I can't?
If you cannot pay coins for an event that requires payment, you must undergo torture according to the torture rules of the base game (page 2). Several event tiles (e.g., 'Torture') specify consequences that reference those same torture rules (page 3).
Can I place Followers on the Beneficial Deeds spaces if I won't gain the bonus?
Yes — you may still send Followers to Beneficial Deeds even if the bonus is of no benefit to you, and if you complete a Deed whose bonus you cannot use you still receive the Citizen tile (page 5). Note that you may not place Followers of your color on Beneficial Deeds (see base game rules referenced on page 5).
Can I bribe the active player when their Intrigue action targets me, and what happens if they accept?
Yes — if you are targeted you may offer the active player a bribe of coins and/or goods; if the active player accepts your bribe, you do not suffer the effects of that action (page 6).
What does the new Brasserie Place tile do — can I use its goods for Orders?
Place up to 2 cheese and 2 wine on the Brasserie tile at setup; you may spend those goods at any time (for example to fulfill an Order), they count for taxes, and are worth victory points at game end (page 6). Additionally, in phase 6 you may discard a good from the Brasserie to prevent the current Event's effects for you (page 6).
