A fantasy campaign setting for the D&D 3.X and d20 systems, inspired by medieval chansons de geste and the empire of Charlemagne. It presents an alternate Europe around the year 800, populated by humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, dragons, and magic. Players portray knights and noble adventurers serving the Holy Empire and its emperor, Carlomano. They defend the realm against orc hordes, the Caliphate, and raiders from the northern lands while seeking the honor of becoming one of Carlomano’s Champions. Magic functions as both a powerful tool and a potential curse, shaping battles and the fate of the world.
