Taint of Madness

This sourcebook examines recognizable forms of insanity, historical approaches to mental illness, and the legal consequences of being classified as insane. It adapts the Cthulhu sanity rules and provides guidance for psychiatric interviews, commitment and release procedures, and period-appropriate terminology. It includes three detailed asylums—Bethlehem in the 1890s, Arkham Sanitarium in the 1920s, and Bellevue in the 1990s—each with a short scenario. Additional material covers historical institutions, an annotated bibliography, illustrations, and an index.
