The Cinder: A star system with a dull, maroon, sun
A setting booklet describing a realistic star system centered on a tiny, fading Y5 brown dwarf. It details how an Earth-like planet in the habitable zone experiences the dim red sun, closely packed worlds, limited travel times, radiation hazards, and a system gradually freezing as its central star cools. The booklet provides guidance for building and customizing the system, including planetary options, galactic surroundings, sky colors, navigation, flares, coronal mass ejections, radiation effects, antimatter collection, and high-speed particle impacts. It also presents possible forms of life surviving in volcanically heated outer worlds or near the fading sun.
