War of the Triple Alliance

A two-player strategic wargame that recreates the 19th-century conflict between Paraguay and the Triple Alliance of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Players command asymmetric forces: Paraguay begins with strong, mobile armies but limited replacements, while the Allies build numerical superiority over time. Gameplay mixes area movement and patterned battle resolution with a card-driven event system that introduces political and logistical effects alongside military actions. Decisions focus on timing and economy of forces — whether Paraguay presses offensives or digs in behind river fortifications, and whether the Allies delay engagements to amass troops or push to capture key cities. Victory depends on force management, card use, and control of strategic objectives.
