2026 · American Civil War
A Primitive Madness
A two-player tactical wargame recreating the contested battle near Sharpsburg during the American Civil War. Players command opposing Union and Confederate formations, maneuvering brigades and brigades’ supports across period terrain, committing attacks, managing command and control, and resolving combat through the Black Swan system. The rules emphasize Fortune, Friction, and Fog as players confront uncertain intelligence, developing battle situations, and changing initiatives. Play centers on maneuver, timing of assaults, and handling the cascading effects of casualties and command hesitation over the course of the single, decisive day.
