Ace of Spades
Players take the role of a vengeance-seeking gambler confronting a necromancer and his minions in a cursed Arizona town. Gameplay uses poker-style handbuilding and card resolution to represent magical duels and combat, with players forming hands to cast spells, damage foes, and trigger abilities. The game supports solo play or two-player cooperative play. Encounters progress through a series of duels against escalating supernatural enemies as players manage their hand, discard, and resources to survive and advance into the final confrontation.

Antonello8.5 After about 20 plays, both solo and co-op, I can only congratulate Benja and David on the fantastic product they’ve put out. I’m not a fan of poker or the cowboy theme… but here I am, months after buying it, hooked like hardly ever before 😱. And for anyone complaining about the luck factor: learn how to play and you’ll see it’s much less decisive than it seems 😉.

Jugar y Leer9.0 ¡"Ace of Spades" me ha encantado! ? Cada partida es tensa y emocionante, con decisiones tácticas constantes y enemigos que te lo ponen cada vez más difícil. Además, los componentes son una pasada, está todo súper cuidado. Lo he podido jugar y me gusta muchísimo y lo recomiendo sin dudar, sobre todo si te van los solitarios temáticos o el juego a dos con tensión cooperativa. ♠️? ¡Yo ya lo tengo pedido!

Do I remove the Joker at setup, and when can I use it?
Remove the Joker from the Poker deck during setup and set it aside; the Joker cannot be used in the game until you have defeated the appropriate enemy (setup and Joker rules). (pages 5, 7)
How many cards must I play for a Hand — do I have to discard all five even if only some score?
You must choose exactly five of your eight cards to form a Hand and discard those five after playing it, even if only some of them contribute to the scoring combination; only the cards that actually score count for Ace/face bonuses. (page 8)
If I can't even make a Pair, can I still use up a Hand to get new cards?
Yes — if you cannot make at least a Pair and your Discards dial is empty, you may play a Hand of five cards that deals 0 damage (a Jammed Gun), which still uses one click of your Hands dial and lets you draw new cards. (page 9)
When I discard and draw or renew the deck, does that change the Discards dial, and what if I can't reduce it?
Both Discard and Draw and Renew the Deck actions require you to reduce the Discards dial by 1; if you cannot reduce the Discards dial, you cannot take either action. (pages 6, 12)
Do Aces and face cards add their extra damage if they were only non-scoring cards I had to discard?
No — Ace (+3) and face card (+1 each) bonuses only apply to the cards that actually score in the Hand; non-scoring extra cards discarded with the Hand do not add those bonuses. (page 8)
If I have Two Pair or a Full House, do bonuses for a 'Pair' or 'Three of a Kind' still apply?
Bonuses apply only to the exact combination indicated, so a Two Pair or Full House does not trigger a bonus printed for 'Pair' or 'Three of a Kind'; note you are allowed to declare and play a lesser hand if you prefer. (page 15)
