Die Pioniere (fan expansion for The Settlers of Catan)

An unofficial expansion for Settlers of Catan introduces 32 unique Pioneer cards that alter play from the beginning. Before the game starts, each player receives three random cards and chooses one, whose effect remains active throughout the game. These abilities can provide strong advantages with a drawback. One card may limit a player to building ships while reducing the victory-point target, while another allows a player to demand a resource from opponents building settlements or cities, increasing the target by one point. If the resource is not paid, the construction cannot proceed.
