Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

When can we use the Antarctica side board?

The Antarctica side board is used only if Rise of the Elder Things is the Ancient One or if the Doomsayer From Antarctica Prelude card is drawn. (Rulebook, p. 4)

How do I get to Antarctica?

During the Action Phase, an investigator may move between Antarctica and Miskatonic Outpost without spending an action, but only once per round and not while Delayed. Alternatively, an investigator performing an Acquire Assets action may spend two successes to move to Miskatonic Outpost. (Rulebook, p. 4)

What can I do with a Focus token?

As an action, an investigator gains one Focus token, up to a maximum of two. A Focus token may be spent to reroll one die during a test, with no limit on how many Focus tokens can be spent for rerolls. (Rulebook, p. 5)

Do Antarctica spaces have a normal space type, and which encounters do we draw there?

Antarctica spaces do not have a space type. Investigators at Miskatonic Outpost, Lake Camp, or Frozen Waste draw Outpost Encounters; investigators at Snowy Mountains, City of the Elder Things, or Plateau of Leng draw Mountain Encounters, while Clues there use Antarctica Research Encounters. (Rulebook, pp. 4, 7)

What does “advance the active Mystery” mean?

Resolve the effect that applies to the active Mystery: place one required token, place two Health if it requires defeating an Epic Monster, or place one Clue if it requires spending Clues. Clues, Gates, and Monsters come from their normal pools or stacks. (Rulebook, p. 6)

Can I use Magical bonuses against a Monster with Magical Resistance?

No. Against Magical Resistance, you cannot apply bonuses from Magical possessions or Spells, although rerolling dice and manipulating die results still work normally. Against Physical Resistance, only bonuses from Magical possessions and Spells apply. (Rulebook, p. 6)
