Ghost Fightin' Treasure Hunters

Players explore an eerie mansion to recover eight hidden jewels while the number of ghosts in the house grows. Each turn players roll dice to move a pawn, possibly trigger the appearance of a new ghost, pick up treasure by ending movement on a jewel space, and resolve combats by rolling a fight die to remove ghosts. Rooms that accumulate three ghosts become hauntings that require at least two hunters to battle. The team wins by collecting all jewels and exiting the house together; they lose if six hauntings appear before escape.

This is a really well designed kid's game that is a bit of a cross between Pandemic and a simple dungeon crawler. The goal is for all players as a team to get into the house and get the gems out. Every turn a player rolls the movement die, which on most results spawns a new ghost. You flip a card and spawn a ghost mini to the room matching the letter on the card. If you end your movement in a room with a ghost, you get to fight it by trying to roll a ghost icon on the combat d6. Two players in the same room, means you get to roll an extra die. When a room gets 3 ghosts, you replace them with a fire ghost, which can only be fought by 2 players, and only gets defeated on a fire result on the combat die (1/6). When all the fire ghosts are on the board, the players lose the game. My kids love killing the ghosts, they like counting the movement spaces. They love how some cards lock certain colored doors. They absolutely love replacing the three ghosts with the fire ghost. That moment is really cool for them clearly. They also really enjoy the process of putting the gem into their mini's backpack. The components are fantastic, and this is the first kids game I'm really properly enjoying as a player. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ☆ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★★☆☆ Raw enjoyment
