NATO: The Cold War Goes Hot – Designer Signature Edition

A division- and brigade-level simulation of a Warsaw Pact invasion of Western Europe in the 1980s. Players command NATO and Warsaw Pact forces across a map that spans Denmark to the Alps and France to Poland, maneuvering infantry, armor, airborne, airmobile troops and marines at 15 miles per hex with 24-hour turns. Scenarios cover surprise attacks, covert preparations, extended buildups and an introductory Denmark invasion, each playable with 1983 or 1988 orders of battle. Gameplay emphasizes combined-arms operations and offensive action, with rules for artillery, tactical and operational air strikes, helicopters, chemical and nuclear options, flank and concentric attacks, reserves, counterattacks and deep exploitation. This edition updates units, scenarios, maps and player aids and uses larger counters and hexes for streamlined play.
