Players portray aspiring scientists in the Scientific Revolution, traveling across Europe to study at universities, visit cities, develop theories and construct instruments. Gameplay uses hand management and action selection over six rounds: each round players play five cards from hand to trigger board actions, then retrieve all but one card which remains on the board to boost that action while foregoing its use next round. Cards can be upgraded or replaced to expand available actions and powers. Victory is determined by points scored from discoveries, tools, positions, and other achievements after six rounds.
