A group of Champions explores a dark fantasy realm where nightmares spill into waking life and the land is overrun by otherworldly threats. Players cooperatively control individual Champions, moving across a modular board, resolving scenario-driven encounters, and making choices that branch the unfolding story. Tests and combat determine immediate outcomes; failed tests can inflict lasting Afflictions and scenario choices create persistent consequences. One of several powerful Villains directs waves of varied enemies with unique abilities, so players must coordinate tactics, manage resources, and weigh moral trade-offs to survive and advance the campaign.
