The Lord of the Rings

A cooperative campaign where a small band of hobbits attempts to destroy a corrupting ring while surviving Sauron’s influence. Players each control a different hobbit with a unique ability and play quest cards to advance across four conflict boards representing major encounters from the trilogy: Moria, Helm’s Deep, Shelob’s Lair, and Mordor. Quest cards with matching symbols move characters along tracks for fighting, hiding, traveling, and friendship; cards also let players collect runes, unlock legendary cards, or recover life tokens at safe havens. A master board tracks physical progress and increasing corruption; if Sauron’s corruption reaches a hobbit or the Ring-bearer is eliminated, the group loses. Victory requires carrying the Ring to Mount Doom and casting it into the fire.

One of the firsts Cooperative Board Games ever. This game is special, it has some abstract elements but it's full of beauty. The artwork, the rythm of the game, the path... I think it has a lot of the essence of the Tolkien books.
