1714: The Case of the Catalans

Players represent members of the Grand Alliance fighting Bourbon forces across early-18th-century Europe. Each round, players take turns (in reverse order from the previous turn) choosing a seeded card and either pay to trigger its event or sell it to perform one of several unique actions: recruit, move, or attack with troops; gather resources; or manage public opinion (Will to Fight). Actions are limited to one use per turn and cannot be repeated in consecutive turns. A hidden agenda defines each player’s victory goals, so negotiation, timing and careful use of military and economic options determine who secures the best territorial and commercial concessions at the peace settlement.

A great game to deploy diplomacy between players, a very interesting system that has given us very entertaining matches, and sometimes a conflict on some revised.
