BattleCON: Devastation of Indines

A head-to-head dueling card game that features thirty distinct heroes and villains, each with a unique combat mechanism and move set. Players choose a character and move along a seven-space arena, forming attacks by combining that character’s signature styles and abilities with a common pool of basic cards. Rounds resolve through simultaneous selection and positional interaction as players trade blows and attempt to strike the opponent; the last player standing wins. Supports one-on-one and team play, and can be combined with content from a companion set for expanded character options. Includes a guide with six BattleQUEST adventures for solo and cooperative play against automated enemies.

The best 1vs1 fighting game I've tried. A fantastic, simple system with incredible depth. THIS SPECIFIC BOX (DEVASTATION) - A LOT of characters (30 in the Standard version, 32 in the Remastered version). No tuckboxes in the Standard version, but the Remastered one comes with them. - A LOT of variants (1vs2, 1vs3, bosses, arenas, etc.) - Solo content that I've never used, but it seems fun if you're into solitaires. - It's more than enough: you'll never need any more content, but you'll probably want it anyway. PROS - With a really simple ruleset, it creates incredible interactions between its characters. - Every character feels absolutely unique. Some of them may be similar, but they'll have a distinctive feature that differenciates them. - There is a character in a BattleCON box that feels like it was designed for you. Maybe more than one! - The game is really tense: it really feels like a fight. Predicting your opponent's moves correctly is incredibly satisfying. CONS - Some details may be difficult to grasp for new players (while the 4th edition makes the game and its graphic design much more straighforward). - It cannot be played at its best until each player knows their character and their opponent's character. You won't experience it correctly by playing it from time to time with random opponents.

I like playing fighting games on my Xbox, and this is a cool board-game version of one. I enjoy the differentiation between characters and the kind of strategy that playing games like this entails.
