Spheres of Influence: Struggle for Global Supremacy
Players control one of eight modern-era factions and expand from a single starting territory to capture capitals, oil reserves and spheres of influence on a world map. Play alternates between a mobilization phase, where units are placed and a shared turn deck is assembled from faction turn cards, and a turn phase, where cards are revealed one at a time to grant short, single-space actions (move, attack, annex or pass) to the revealed faction. Combat uses a dice mechanic modified by situational factors like coastline or fortification, and special cards enable submarines, armor, paradrops and nuclear strikes. Games run 5–6 rounds; the faction controlling the most spheres of influence at the end wins. Typical playtime is about 60–90 minutes.
