Vijayanagara: The Deccan Empires of Medieval India, 1290-1398
Players reenact the century-long struggle for control of the Deccan Plateau across two dynastic periods, taking asymmetric roles as competing medieval polities. Gameplay centers on a deck of event cards; each card offers the option to resolve the event or select from faction-specific Commands and Decrees that drive recruitment, governance, migration, tribute, conspiracies, and alliances. Factions rally local amirs and rajas, build temples, forts, and qasbahs, and resolve battles with a strength-dependent risk mitigation system. A non-player Mongol faction is handled jointly by two players. The game supports 1–3 players and emphasizes distinct faction capabilities, visible player aids, and a narrative arc of rise and decline over about 90 minutes.
