Middara: Unintentional Malum – Act 1

Cooperative, narrative-driven miniatures game for 1–4 players set in an ultra-modern fantasy world that intersects with Earth. Players lead a party through a branching campaign that unfolds over many hours, making choices that permanently affect the story, allies, and future scenarios. Encounters use a dice-based combat system with multiple colored dice and face symbols tied to weapons and abilities; characters advance via a point-buy progression and equip dozens of unique disciplines and items to customize builds. Modular map tiles construct varied locations while AI-driven monsters, NPCs and traps present tactical challenges; the game also includes standalone scenarios separate from the campaign.

    Very good dungeon crawler. I'm not into the story at all as it isnt anywhere close to my taste, but the combat mechanic and plethora of customization options when leveling is enough for me to give this an 8/10. This would be a 7/10 If it werent for the spark notes on their web page and the excellent support of Succubus Publishing. I'm more into emergent storytelling games like in Arkham Horror 2nd edition and Kingdom Death: Monster.

    Its a 10. Just acquired, and only 4 scenarios played. Dungeon crawlers, narrative with campaign mode games are my favourite boardgame genre, and this game is, as far I know, the best of all. The awesome mechanichs, with deepness,complexity and flexibility. The story, the art, the amazing AI of the enemies... its incredible. Never played something like this before. A must have. Almost finished. Amazing game.
