7th Fleet: Modern Naval Combat in the Far East

Simulation of late Cold War naval combat across the Western Pacific from the Sea of Okhotsk to the northern Philippines and from the Chinese coast to Guam. Hexes represent roughly 45 nautical miles. Players command task forces of surface ships, submarines, and carrier-based and land-based aircraft from the U.S., Japan, the Soviet Union, China, and regional nations. Units carry detailed ratings for missiles, anti-air, area defense, anti-sub, air-to-air, torpedoes, movement, detection (subs), and damage resolution. Play proceeds in 8-hour turns split into submarine, surface, and air phases; players alternate choosing which phase to conduct and resolve detection, movement, strikes, interceptions, and anti-sub actions. Optional rules cover nuclear weapons and logistics. Fifteen scenarios and several multi-turn campaigns vary playtime from about 90 minutes to multiple days.
