Clans wander a frozen Europe after a cataclysmic rise in water levels, seeking transient geothermal oases where crops can grow and people can survive. Players command a nomadic clan, moving across the map to claim and develop steam columns and farms while managing a spreading sickness called the Bane. Gameplay spans scenario-driven campaigns of 3–6 rounds; victory is determined by who controls the most geothermal resources at scenario end or by first to secure a set number of resources earlier. Actions focus on movement, resource capture and development, and dealing with the environmental and health threats that threaten clan survival.
